Work We Turn Down
We don't fabricate custom wood doors from scratch, and we don't do new-construction framing or rough openings for builders. If a job calls for welding a new header into a block foundation, that's outside what we show up with on the truck. We also don't drive past our working radius just to look at a job - we cover Pocatello and the towns around it, including Chubbuck (4 miles), Arbon Valley (6 miles), Fort Hall (10 miles), and Aberdeen (20 miles), and if you're further out than that, we'll tell you straight instead of quoting a trip charge that doesn't make sense.
On older doors - a lot of what we see was built in the 1964-1995 run, with the median landing around 1980 - sometimes the panel style or track width isn't made anymore. When that happens, we'll say so and talk about full replacement instead of pretending we can match a part that doesn't exist. We're not going to sell you a repair that won't hold through another cold winter just to get a service call closed. If a torsion spring repair costs nearly what a new opener system runs, we'll tell you that number too.
What We Actually Do
Most of our calls are torsion springs, cables, rollers, openers, and tracks
The parts that wear out or snap, not the parts anyone wants to think about until they fail on a Tuesday morning with the car still inside. Given the cold band we sit in here, broken springs cluster hard in the late fall and winter months, when the metal gets brittle and the extra weight of a cold, stiff door finishes off whatever was already cracking. A good chunk of the housing stock in our service area went up between 1964 and 1995, and a lot of it clusters in four main pockets of that same 1980s-90s build era.
That means a lot of original hardware still in service
Torsion setups from a different parts era than what's on shelves now, and openers that have outlived at least one remote control generation. We work on all of it - repair first when repair makes sense, full replacement when the door or opener is past the point where parts and labor justify fixing it. We also service newer installs, insulated panel doors, and smart openers people have added since. If it opens and closes a garage, it's something we look at.
How to Reach Us
Call (208) 295-2472. That's the fastest way to get a real answer about scheduling, and someone picks up to talk through what's going on with your door before anyone drives out. If you'd rather come by, we're at 1070 Hiline Rd, Pocatello, ID 83201.
When you call, have the basics ready: what the door is doing (or not doing), whether it's a torsion or extension spring setup if you know, and roughly how old the door or opener is. That alone cuts down on guesswork once we're on site. We serve Pocatello directly and the surrounding area out to Chubbuck, Arbon Valley, Fort Hall, and Aberdeen. If you're calling from one of those towns, say so up front - it helps with routing the truck efficiently instead of backtracking across the valley.

Frequently asked
Straight answers about garage door repair in Pocatello. Still unsure? Ask us directly.
Why did my spring break in the middle of winter with no warning?
Cold is hard on torsion springs, especially older ones. Metal contracts in severe cold, and a spring that's been slowly fatiguing for decades on a house built in the 70s or 80s often lets go on one of the coldest mornings rather than a mild one. It's wear catching up with the weather, not a sudden defect.
Is my opener too old to repair?
Depends on what's wrong. A lot of chain-drive openers from the 80s and 90s still run fine mechanically - it's usually a gear, a sensor, or a logic board that fails first. We'll tell you if the unit's worth fixing or if parts for it are hard enough to find that replacement makes more sense.
Do you work outside Pocatello proper?
Yes, we cover the surrounding service area including Chubbuck, Arbon Valley, Fort Hall, and Aberdeen. Travel distance affects scheduling on some days, but it doesn't change the work we do once we're there.
How do I know if it's the spring or the opener?
If the door won't budge and feels heavy when you try to lift it by hand, that's usually a spring. If the opener runs but the door doesn't move, or it moves partway and reverses, that points to the opener or the track. Tell us what you're seeing and we can usually narrow it down before we arrive.
